PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Dear WHS Parents,

As we round the curve from the halfway point of the academic year, I have mixed emotions about how fast and slowly things are moving, paradoxically at the same time.  It has taken a cooperative effort of the whole community – parents, students, teachers, and administrators – to keep us all engaged and connected.  Hang in there.  We are coming down the home stretch and our diligence and commitment to the health and safety, both mentally and physically, of our WHS community requires that each of us remember that we matter to each other.  Listening to learn & understand is a behavior that we can all model in order to support each other as we continue to navigate these uncharted waters.

There’s lots of great information in this month’s newsletter.  If you didn’t get a chance to attend this month’s meeting,  the recording is posted on the website.  Lots of great discussion about WHS business as well as  our larger teenage community from our speaker Laura Cleary.

Stay well and enjoy the February break.  Best,

Janet Hoffman

WHS PTO President

CLASS OF 2024 VALENTINE's INITIATIVE

Sweet idea! The Class of 2024 SGA is leading an effort to send Valentine's Day e-cards to the Weston Senior Center.

Next week, on the mornings of Tuesday Feb 9 and Wednesday Feb 10, please remind your kids to stop by the backdrop on the way into school and take a photo and make a card.

Reminder about Class Dues: Class dues are charged by the school and cover the cost of school sponsored class activities and graduation.  Parents can pay $40 each year or pay all 4 years up front.  Students will not be eligible to graduate if they haven’t paid all 4 years of dues. To pay, login to www.myschoolbucks.com and click on the School Store Tab. Then scroll down until you see your child’s graduation year.  Click on that icon and make the dues payment. Not sure if you've already paid? Look under "My Purchases" on My School Bucks and it will show everything you've funded.

LACHAT TOWN FARM -INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY

Phenomenal Women - Call fo Nominations

We all know of unsung heroes who have made an impact during this unprecedented year due to Covid-19. Doctors, teachers, neighbors, friends – whose story would you like us to hear?

Lachat Town Farm is accepting nominations for “Phenomenal Women” in celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8th.

International Women’s Day is “a time to reflect on progress made, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women, who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities”. Lachat Town Farm is teaming up with a group of local and talented videographers, editors, and producers to honor the stories of these Phenomenal Women. Selected women will be chosen from your nominations and featured in a short video compilation of songs, poems, and personal stories of courage and triumph, to be shared with our community on International Women’s Day.

To nominate a “Phenomenal Woman”, please email us at info@lachattownfarm.com. Please include the woman’s name, town, and tell us how she made an impact. The deadline for submissions is February 10th.
