PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Dear WHS families,

Our nominating committee is looking forward to putting together our board for next year. The link to the form follows in the newsletter.  Serving on the WHS PTO is a great opportunity to give back to the WHS community while making connections, improving technical and communications skills, and being a voice for advocacy and change for our students and teachers.   Please consider volunteering!

Our board is hard at work organizing college board test prep classes, staff appreciation events, senior specials, reviewing and discussing philanthropy funding requests, our road race fundraiser, BOE updates, and so much more to keep you all informed and support or enhance our students social/emotional and academic experience.

Enjoy these beautiful winter days!  Be like the snow and reflect 90% of your energy back into the atmosphere.

Regards,

Janet Hoffman

WHS PTO President

PTO FUNDED INITIATIVES

Dear PTO Members,

As this year’s philanthropy chair, and on behalf of the PTO’s Executive Board, I’d like to thank you for making possible our PTO's continued support of our students and staff during this extraordinary year.

With your generous support, we were able to fund training for the newly established Social Justice Advocacy Group, which was led by Dr. Elizabeth Bishop, Director of the Youth Studies program at CUNY and curriculum director for Global Kids. The training sessions enabled SJAG students to develop a mission statement, action plan, and operating norms, as well as help the students plan initiatives and events that promote and celebrate diversity, equity, inclusion and justice for the wider community.

Our PTO also recently funded the purchase of four iMac computers for the Photography Department to accommodate an enrollment increase as freshmen will be able to enroll in the Photography 1 course starting in 2021-2022. Purchases like this help to support a fully digital course curriculum and keep our district current and competitive in both advancing new curriculum and technology.

We are grateful to all our members for recognizing the importance of supporting students and staff with the additional funds needed to enhance their educational experience at Weston High School. We look forward to all our continued success.

Sincerely,

Laura Schlossberg,

WHS PTO Philanthropy Chair
