PTO & SCHOOL NEWS

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

We did it! We survived the first month of school!

I hope you and your families have had a great first month of school and are enjoying the start to what I hope will be a beautiful long fall.

In September, the PTO focused on our membership drive. Your membership dues are critical to the success of your favorite PTO programs such as Family Fun Nights, Community Service, hospitality for our teachers and staff, the WhIStle and PTO website and most importantly Field Day.  Right now WIS has 238 families registered for PTO membership. That’s just over half of the families at WIS. Joining the PTO isn’t just about funding programs, it’s about parent involvement with the school. The programs and services that the PTO provides would not happen without volunteers and parent support. The teachers and staff depend on the PTO for programs that are outside of the school budget or in addition to regular programming provided by the district. The PTO provides funds for professional development, funds for teachers to purchase additional classroom supplies, special speaker series for the students and my kids’ favorite thing….additional playground equipment and picnic tables outside of the cafeteria.  The PTO needs your support. Please join the PTO today and get involved to enhance our students’ learning experience. With your support, we can continue to provide an excellent school experience for our kids.

I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for fall and all the fun and beauty that comes with the season.

Best Regards,

Debbie Carrothers

WIS PTO President 2021-2022

SUPERINTENDENT'S MESSAGE

One of our district  priority is to promote an inclusive climate that honors the uniqueness of every individual independent of race, skin color, religion, disability, gender identity,  sexual orientation or other perceived differences. Honor is a key word here. It is not enough for us to tolerate one another. We must honor and respect one another as we have more commonalities than differences. I would like to thank the district PTOs for funding our Humankind Be Both t-shirts for the entire staff this fall. In addition, these shirts are available to  our entire community for purchase. Here is the link. https://whsfanwear2021.itemorder.com/ This is a  powerful message that can be demonstrated in the simplest of acts.
