PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

It has been a busy week at WIS!

I have so many volunteers to thank and recognize for all of their hard work!

Thank you to Shannon English and her team of grade coordinators and room parents for organizing the Halloween parties. I’m sure the kids had a wonderful time enjoying snacks and activities. I hope those who participated enjoyed “Booing” each other.

Thank you to Susan Hersey and Loren Cahue for working with Mrs. Rinas, our new librarian, and for all of their hard work on the the Book Fair. I loved being able to shop with my kids Thursday afternoon! We added many great new books to our home library.

The students are hard at work in school on their Square 1 Art projects. A huge thank you to Stephanie Feingold for bringing Square 1 Art back to WIS!! Get ready to order your favorite Square 1 Art products featuring your child’s amazing art just in time for the holidays.

What’s up next…..We have Familiy Fun night programs starting with Chalk the Walk on 11/14 from 10-2 at WIS.

Parent Teacher Conferences are next week - In Person or virtual.

So grateful for our the amazing WIS PTO volunteers who live the motto “Teamwork makes the dream work”.

FAMILY FUN NIGHT

Family Fun - Chalk the Walk with Gratitude on Sunday, Nov 14th

Please join us for our second annual Chalk the Walk! This Family Fun event is an opportunity to get creative and write thank you messages for our faculty and staff! No registration is needed. WESTON PUBLIC LIBRARY

Update from the Weston Public Library!

The Children's Library was closed for approximately two weeks for the Children's Room Remodel in September and though we are still waiting for a final delivery of furniture, the library is browseable without an appointment during open library hours.

We are super excited for everyone to see the Children's Room once it is complete! Added to the room remodel- we now have pet fish! In November we ask that you participate in the naming contest of our pets. We also have lots of virtual and indoor events that you can take part in at the library in November including more Food Explorers, Clubs like Storymakers, Harry Potter, Pokemon, Coding, and Warhammer, Kid Realm: Switch it up and our ongoing monthly Book Clubs- Wordworms, The 35 Kid Club and Genius Bookworms.

Prior to registration online make sure you have updated your household account for 2021-2022 school year. Review your family’s household account with your child’s current age, grade, address, phone number, etc. You will not be able to complete the online registration for any program if you do not do this.

***WINTER PROGRAMS REGISTRATION***

Registration for the Weston Parks & Recreation programs is available on www.westonct.gov/parksandrec only. We are pleased to offer our programs with various activities. All programs have limited space. See our separate brochure on the Town website. You will also find on our website video tutorials to help with your registration. Program questions should be directed to Program Director, Joe Parciasepe at 203-222-2675.

***AMERICAN RED CROSS SWIM LESSONS***

Fall swim lessons are offered for children ages 1 and up. Saturday and Sunday classes have begun and will run through Dec. 11^th and Dec. 12^th. Various times are offered. See separate flyer for details. There is limited space in each class.

***SPORTS & FITNESS – GRS. 3 – 5 - WINTER ***

Join instructors Tom Ehret and Dan Ungar for an exciting winter season of outdoor activities. Day/dates: Monday, Nov. 15^th – Jan. 10^th, Tues., Nov. 23^rd – Jan. 18^th, Wed., Nov. 17^th – Jan. 26^th and/or Thurs., Dec. 2^nd – Feb. 10^th. Fee: $160.00 for either day. Limited space! Registration begins Monday, Nov. 1^st at 12:01 a.m. on www.westonct.gov/parksandrec.

***FIELD HOCKEY – GRS. 3 - 5***-FALL

We’re happy to bring field hockey at the youth level back to Weston! Program goal is having fun while learn the fundamentals of the sport! Day/dates: Tuesday, Sept. 14 – Nov. 16. Space is still available.

***RUNNING – GRS. 3 – 5***- FALL

Participants will enjoy speed, agility and distance training! This is a great way to stay in shape. Day/dates: Wed., Oct. 6 – Nov. 10. Fee: $120.00. Space is still available.

***MAKE YOUR DOG YOUR FRIEND –FALL SESSION 2***

Join instructor Sally Bovino for this fall dog training course! You and your dog will love it!! Day/dates: Saturday, Oct. 23^rd – Nov. 13^th. Rain dates will be made up at the end of the course. Time: 10:00 a.m. for Puppies (up to 5 months old) or Beginners. Fee: $120.00 for a four week session. Contact Sally at 203-451-8713 or email gsdgirl236@yahoo.com to register or questions.

***SATURDAY BOYS AND GIRLS BASKETBALL – GRS. 3 – 5***WINTER

All Weston boys and girls in grades 3 – 5 are welcome to participate in these Saturday morning basketball Recreation leagues. Girls in grades 3 – 5 will play from 9:50 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Boys in grades 2 – 3 will play from 11:05 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. Boys in grades 4 – 5 will play from 12:20 p.m. – 1:40 p.m. Dates: Dec. 4^th – March 5^th. Fee: $200.00 for 10 weeks. Registration begins Monday, Nov. 1^st at 12:01 a.m. See separate flyer on website.

SUBMISSIONS

The WIS PTO newsletter is distributed on Fridays, please send your submissions by the prior Wednesday, 2 pm.
It is your responsibility to write and submit your relevant WIS activity each week.
All submissions should be either included in the text of your email or attached in Word format and the content should be print-ready (please proofread!). Keep it simple and short.
If you have a flyer, please submit a brief write-up along with it in PDF format and we will link it to the newsletter.
Please send all necessary links, there will be a click "here" linking to the more detailed information.
If you want to re-run a write-up from the previous week, check to see if it requires updating, i.e. changing the wording from "next week" to "this week", etc. If so, please make appropriate changes and re-send the revised write-up.
All submissions should be sent to: wisptocommunications@westonpspto.org. All will be acknowledged.
Submissions should be relevant to WIS and the town of Weston (i.e., town sports programs, Town of Weston sponsored community events or after-school sports programs for students taking place in the Town of Weston). If there is any question regarding the relevance of submission, final approval will be determined by the HES PTO Communications Chair and/or President.
