PTO & SCHOOL NEWS

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Hello WIS Families!

Whether your family is returning to WIS or it is your first year at WIS, I hope everyone has enjoyed their first week back at school!!

My mom was the PTO President right here in Weston for Hurlbutt, WMS and WHS (my time pre-dates WIS). My sister, Dad and I were always helping her with PTO activities  -going in to school early for a PTO meeting, setting up for Breakfast with Santa, folding letters to mail, waiting not so patiently to get off the phone talking about PTO business. Now it’s my turn and I couldn’t be more excited! I want to say a special thank you to those Presidents who have served before me, especially Monica Stromwall and Daniella Swetland. They both did an amazing job my first 2 years at WIS leading the way as we moved into full remote/hybrid/all-in/VDL learning situations.

We have an amazing team of volunteers who have been working hard all summer to prepare for the 2021-2022 school year. We are cautiously optimistic that the PTO will be able to host many of our traditional events such as the Book Fair, Family Fun Nights, class parties and more.

I wanted to highlight a few things for you:

PTO Membership

I invite you to become a member of the WIS PTO.   There are many benefits of membership. You will receive a printed directory that is for all 4 schools, information on school events hosted by the PTO, weekly WhIStle emails, BOE updates, and you will be invited to the General Membership Meetings. The WhIStle emails have so much great information about what is going on with the PTO, the school, town events, and especially towards the end of the year 5th grade graduation, field day, and more throughout the year.

Get Involved with the PTO!

There are open positions on the General Board - Book fair, yearbook, memorial day fair (the biggest thing in town besides the 4th of july!!) just to make a few. The PTO website has information on each role. Please let me know if you’re interested in joining our amazing team of volunteers.

PTO Meetings

WIS PTO General Membership meetings will be held once a month via Zoom.  Our General Membership meetings are going to be combined with the Hurlbutt PTO to allow us to provide our membership with speakers such as our new Superintendent Lisa Wolak, Principals Mrs. Falber and Mrs. Kaddis, our members of the Board of Education, and will cover topics such as social and emotional learning, sleep away and day camps, sports programing, and so much more! So easy to get an update on what’s happening in our schools all from the comfort of your home or office.

Again, welcome back to school!  It’s going to be a great year!!

WIS PTO President 2021-2022

What does this mean for you? Access to the children's room will be unavailable for a short period of time for about two weeks beginning Tuesday, September 7th as we take out the old to bring in the new! But, don't worry! We have options for you to get all the materials you want while the room is unavailable for entry.

Here are those options:

1. Don't know what you want, but definitely want some library materials? Let us curate a Binge Box for you. Fill out this form with a few short answers and we will pick out your materials for you, get them checked out, and you can pick them up at grab and go inside the main library when you receive an email to let you know it is ready. FILL OUT BINGE BOX FORM HERE

2. Know what you want and have a library card account with us? Log into your account using your library card barcode and password to place holds on materials HERE. You will be notified when the materials are ready for you to pick up at grab and go.
