PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Dear Weston High School Parents,

I hope you enjoyed your extra hour of sleep this weekend!

If you were not able to join our WHS PTO General Board meeting on Friday, you missed a good one!  We had 2 special topics this month. First, Principal Givoni presented a proposal for a modified Midterm schedule which will be finalized soon and shared.  The proposal includes a shorter test time as well as a larger break in between Midterm exams. It would also include 1 Reading Day on the Tuesday before the Midterm start date (and after the Monday Holiday day). Laureen Mutuski talked to us about the types of learners our students could be (well, all of us) and what study strategies might work best with each.  Her presentation is attached and includes a link to a 90 second "Learner Type " assessment that she uses with her students and encourages all parents to consider exploring. Lastly, Janine Russo talked to us about what positives they have seen over the last year in Math instruction and how that will help propel us forward.  While we will eventually post minutes of the meeting, I HIGHLY recommend you take the time to watch the recording of the meeting to really get a sense of what is happening.

There is a lot happening related to our school and town buildings for the future. Please read below in Around Town to learn more about the first community meeting to be held on 11/17.  This planning effort will set the course of Weston's future for generations to come. Please join and be engaged in this important conversation!

We should also be excited for The Company production of "All Together Now".  See below for information about dates/times and ticket sales.

As always, if you have any questions, comments, or ideas, I can be reached at 203-981-0582 or kristana.esslinger@gmail.com

Sincerely,

Kristana Esslinger
