PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Dear Weston High School Parents,

Well, we are finally officially in fall although the weather still confuses me some days.

Because it was such a good presentation, I want to say again if you missed last month's WHS PTO General Meeting to take a peek at the video starting at the "30 minute mark". In it you will hear Interim Principal Givoni talk about a proposal for Midterms and Laureen Mutaski talk to us about the types of learners our students could be (well, all of us) and what study strategies might work best with each. It caps off with Janine Russo telling us what's up with math!

http://www.westonpspto.org/Page.asp?n=162063&org=westonct-pto.org

If you were not able to attend the Weston Town "STEAM" meeting regarding the future of the Weston school facilities you can watch the video of the meeting  (https://vimeo.com/westonct/videos) and take a look at the presentation  (https://www.westonct.gov/government/boards-commissions/appointed/facility-optimization-committee/steam-strategic-town-and-educational-assets-masterplan). This is the first of 3 planned community oriented meetings and I encourage all of our families to engage and be educated in the discussion and future plans.

Thank you to ALL of you who ordered pies either for your family or to donate to local agencies. With over 160 pies/donuts purchased, at least 55 pies will be given to local families in need. And thanks to our Pie Chair for making it happen.

Our Staff Appreciation Chairs have been hard at work providing something special to our staff throughout the year.  Today they brought the staff lovely wrapped and delicious muffins while also supporting a local business (see picture)!

I want to give a HIGH-5 shoutout to the Girl's Varsity Volleyball team for winning the first Class M Championship in WHS history! (I actually watched it on the NFHS Network and it was a nail biter going to a full 5 set match!)

Lastly as we enter the holiday season I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and an early Happy Hanukkah to those who celebrate! Enjoy the time with family and friends!

As always, if you have any questions, comments, or ideas, I can be reached at 203-981-0582 or kristana.esslinger@gmail.com

Sincerely,

Kristana Esslinger

JUNIOR CLASS
SOPHOMORE CLASS

Hello WHS Class of 2024 Parents!

In an effort to promote a feeling of connection and community for our Sophomores, we hosted a “Dinner and a Show” social before the opening night of All Together Now, on 11/12/21.

The Sophomores enjoyed pizza, beverages and treats at the WHS cafeteria. The students had a fun time connecting with each other and many went on to see the show while others went on to watch the volleyball game.  Congratulations to all our Sophomores who were a part of All Together Now and for their outstanding performances as well as the entire cast, pit and production.  We’d also like to congratulate the WHS VolleyBall Team who played that night and have since gone on to become the State Champions!!!

Many thanks to the parents who helped make this event possible and we are deeply appreciative to Interim Principal Givoni for her kindness in making the WHS Cafeteria available to the Sophomores.

As your parent reps we wish to pursue more events like this and hope to work together to help keep our kids connected.  Any questions or ideas please reach out!

AROUND TOWN
WESTON SCOUTS FUNDRAISER

Dear Weston Community,

We hope this email finds you healthy and well!

Even during these most challenging times, Weston’s Scouting BSA Troop 788 is determined and excited to launch their Annual Holiday Fundraiser. This has been a long-standing and cherished tradition in our town, which has brought joy to the troop and to our community, and one which the Scouts have pledged to continue safely, even amid the backdrop of an ongoing pandemic. Their commitment is admirable!

Again this year, they will be selling premium fresh cut Christmas Trees and hand-made Balsam Wreaths as a service to Weston and as a fundraiser to help defray the cost of their scouting activities throughout the year.

The Scouts will be selling trees and wreaths at the Onion Barn on 11/27, 11/28, 12/4 and 12/5each day at 9am-3pm. You can also place your orders online now at:

www.westontroop788.org

The trees are grown in New Hampshire and fresh cut a few days before they arrive on our lot. Supplies are limited, so please make sure to reserve your trees and wreaths early. We sell out every year and have to finalize orders soon. We’ll have your items tagged and ready to pick up at the Onion Barn after Thanksgiving or we can deliver them to your door for only $15.

Please note that this year, due to availability and supply constraints, if you wish to order a tree larger than 10’ or wreaths sized 36” – 48”, they will need to be pre-ordered. Although the troop will work hard to fulfill your order, they are not able to guarantee delivery. In the event that they can’t deliver your item(s), a refund will be issued.

We thank you in advance for your continued support of the Weston Boy Scout Troop!

Wishing you and your loved ones continued health and happy holidays!
