PTO & SCHOOL NEWS

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

The fall of 2021 has been quite exciting for the WIS PTO!

We welcomed many new students and families to our WIS community, added 5 new Executive Board members (2 of whom are new to Weston in the last year) and 6 new General Board members. Thank you to everyone who has helped fill our board with great energy and ideas.

MORE great news!! WIS and Hurlbutt PTOs Memorial Day Fair Committee Co-Chairs have come together, after a 2 year hiatus due to the pandemic, to plan an amazing Memorial Day Weekend Fair in 2022. In the early spring we will be recruiting volunteers to help with many aspects of the fair so save the date!!

Thank you to everyone who purchased items through Square 1 Art to showcase your student’s artwork on your favorite items. Those should arrive soon!! Together we raised over $2,000 to support the WIS PTO philanthropy budget. This year we have already received requests for furniture for the WIS Learning Center, Playground toys, games and balls and more for recess and more! Get your philanthropy requests in ASAP!!!

Lastly, thank you to all who donated food & money to The Food Pantry. It was an amazing success and they are very grateful for all our support! WIS PTO Community Service Chair Jen Rubin, is working with Weston Social Services to host a Holiday Gift Drive. Monday, December 20th is the final day of the gift drive. Please consider sending your student into school with a gift card to Stop and Shop, Caralizzi’s, Walmart, or Amazon. There is a box in the hallway for them to place the gift card. The week of Christmas, Social Services will be providing families with a fully prepared holiday meal. Each household will also receive a gift card for groceries and each member of the household will receive a gift card as a Holiday Gift. There are 70 Financial Need Households the includes 40 senior citizens and 45 children.  Please help make the holidays special for these families in Weston.

Happy Holidays!

Debbie Carrothers

WIS PTO President 2021-2022

WIS HOLIDAY DRIVE

Hello WIS Families!

The holidays are quickly approaching and community planning is underway! This year we will be doing a Holiday Drive supporting Weston Social Services. The week of Christmas, Social Services will be providing our families with a fully prepared Holiday meal. Each household will also receive a grocery store gift card and each member of the household will receive a gift card as a " Holiday Gift".

You and your child can help in two ways:

1- Sending your child to school with a gift card to Stop & Shop, Caraluzzi's, Walmart, or Amazon. There is a box in the front hallway for them to place the gift card.

2- By visiting the link below and making a monetary donation towards a Holiday Meal. Monetary Donations can be made thru:

Weston Social Services

Our Mission is to promote the physical and mental well-being of all Weston residents through

programming, information, referral, and advocacy. We are available to assist all Weston residents

regardless of financial need. For those residents who need financial assistance, we are available to assist in a number of ways to help them navigate the difficult situation they are experiencing.

Current Statistics:

70 Financial Need Households

Includes 40 senior citizens and 45 children

Our numbers fluctuate up and down as some residents experience brief periods of financial stress

and households come "off and on". The statistics listed above are for our residents in financial

need. Our department assists many other households in Town in various ways that don't meet

our financial need guidelines. Those households are not included in these numbers.

WESTON NIGHT AT BRIDGEPORT ISLANDERS

We could not have done it without you!

And special thanks to Ms. Falber, Ms. Russo and all the WIS teachers for making this fundraiser a success!

Now, where is your stuff!?

The Square 1 Art elves are busy putting the final touches on your keepsakes to ship out soon! However, we would like to let you know your shipment(s) will arrive a few days later than originally scheduled, due to high order volume. We are so sorry for this delay and any inconvenience caused to you or your families.

We understand that these may be holiday gifts and need to arrive before Christmas. Be on the lookout for a UPS shipping email notification to arrive in your inbox in a few days! (Check SPAM inbox too.) Your UPS tracking notification will provide you with your delivery date.
