PTO & SCHOOL NEWS

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Are you ready for some fun this weekend?!!!

The WIS and Hurlbutt PTOs are so happy that we get to bring the Memorial Day Fair back to Weston!!   All of your favorite rides are back – and a few more!! There will be sponsor and community booths, Kiwanis will be selling food, carnival games, and carnival food. The WIS and Hurlbutt PTO booth will be available to provide you with information on our programs and membership, and we will have Memorial Day Fair t-shirts and drawstring bags for sale.

Our pre-sale tickets were a huge success!!

If you purchased tickets during the pre-sale, your child should have brought them home this week along with any t-shirt or drawstring bag purchases. If not, don’t worry!!! There will be a list of everyone who made an advance purchase at the ticket booth. Just give the wonderful volunteers your last name and we will be able to verify your purchase and give you your unlimited rides bracelet.

Volunteer at the Ticket booth:

There are still a few timeslots available. Please consider volunteering an hour or more to help out in the ticket booth. The more volunteers we have, the faster the ticket line will go.

Cash vs Credit Card:

While you will be able to use a credit card to purchase bracelets and individual tickets during the fair, there will be an ATM available next to the ticket booth. You will need cash to purchase food at the Kiwanis booth, the WMS PTO is going to have a booth where you will need cash, and it would be great to have the money to purchase t-shirts, etc.

Weather

If the weather and mother nature work against us and we need to close for any reason, we will do our best to let you know via email and Facebook posting on the class pages and MIW.

Hours:   Sensory Friendly Hours: Saturday 1-2pm, Sunday 1-2pm

Friday 6pm-10pm

Saturday 2pm-10pm

Sunday 2pm-10pm

Monday 12pm-4pm

Thank you to all volunteers who have worked countless hours to bring the fair back to Weston and who are volunteering at the fair!! I’d like to recognize and thank the MDF Committee ~ without these dedicated volunteers, the fair would not be happening; Debbie Melkonian, Amanda Ginsburg-Allen, Kellie James, Maria Rowbotham, Shannon Michl, Chris Bryant, Jennifer Murphy, Shari Day, and Loren Cahue. Let’s have a great weekend!!!

WESTON CALENDAR ART CONTEST

THE 2022-2023 WESTON CALENDAR ART CONTEST HAS BEGUN!!

DEADLINE: June 16, 2022

All Weston students, from Pre-K to 12th grade, are invited to enter the art contest.  Fourteen (14) winners will be selected to appear in the 2022-2023 Weston Schools Wall Calendar.

The artist whose work is selected to appear on the cover will be awarded a $50 VISA gift card!  Two artists selected randomly from the interior monthly pages will receive a $25 VISA gift card each.

Art Contest Guidelines

●       Art should be family-calendar appropriate, including but not limited to that depicting seasons, specific months and holidays – be creative!  We encourage students to submit any artwork that depicts our Weston community as well.

●       Artwork should be produced in a LANDSCAPE format only on 8.5” X 11” white paper.

●       Colorful designs, with less “white space” work best and all mediums including crayons, markers, digital images, photographs, etc. will be considered.

●       Cover art work CAN but does not need to represent Weston & Weston schools as a whole.

●       Art must be submitted with the student’s name, school, and grade clearly marked on the BACK in light pencil.

●       Art may be dropped off in the HES, WIS, WMS, or WHS Main offices in the ‘Calendar Art’ basket.

●       Photographs & digital images of oil paintings, murals, etchings, etc. will be considered.  Files should be emailed to Aimee Drummey at WestonArtCal@gmail.com

●       Please have fun and encourage your friends to participate!

Selection Process

●       Students may submit up to three (3) pieces of artwork, although only one submission per student might be selected to appear in the calendar.

●       Winners will be notified on June 20th and may be asked to participate in a group photo with their work.

●       Due to the volume of submissions received, we cannot guarantee that artwork will be returned, but we will try!
