PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Hello Weston High School PTO Families!

It's been a great past few weeks as the school year gets underway! Last week the PTO held its first General Board Meeting of the year on Friday, September 9th. Our virtual and in-person pilot was a success and well attended both in person and virtually! This is by and large due to the efforts of Juad Masters, WHS PTO VP, who coordinated the zoom hybrid. We could not have done it without help from WHS's Storm Snaith and her guidance with everything we needed to zoom from WHS Library, and some solid tech advice from Zach Kiley from tech-support. Their kindness, support, and generosity of time are so appreciated!

We were delighted to welcome Principal Meghan Ward and Superintendent Lisa Barbiero as our very first guest speakers of the year. It was a great opportunity to get to know Meghan Ward and to hear about the school year so far. As always, it was fantastic to hear from Superintendent Lisa Barbiero and her updates on WHS and WPS District overall. I encourage you to watch the recording of our meeting HERE. Our Next General board meeting is on Friday, October 14 at 9 AM; please join us, either virtually or in person!

The PSAT prep course is underway, with the weekend session completed. Stephanie Morris, our college test prep course chairperson, let us know that this year we have the most participants yet! This is wonderful news, and there is still time to sign up for the weekday courses ahead! If you're interested in enrolling your student in the course click HERE  or see our flyer below.

The school year has gotten off to a really positive start, with so many exciting things happening on campus for our students. Just to name a few:  Students enjoyed a sustainability-themed field trip to UCONN this week. WHS company has begun working on their fall production, A Midsummer Night's Dream. Also, everyone is looking forward to Homecoming in October! The football game is booked for October 21st and students are planning class floats for the game, and a homecoming dance on October 15th to kick it all off!

If you haven't had a chance, it's a great idea to check your email for communications from Weston High School. There have been great communications from the counseling department and letters home from our principal, Meghan Ward. They are full of wonderful and helpful information and definitely worth reading. Inside Friday's letter from Meghan Ward, she included a LINK to the debut of Trojan TV, which began with a brief interview of Meghan Ward, followed by footage of the Trojan Kickoff. Enjoy the shortcut, but please check your email for the full message if you haven't seen it yet.

Please remember to renew your membership for the 2022-23 school year. Your membership will not only provide you with online and printed directories, newsletters, and special PTO news updates; it will make a difference and enable us to continue to support all we do at WHS PTO. Thank you!

As always, I would like to assure you that I am here to help, alongside the entire PTO board. If you would like to get in touch with me with any questions, ideas, or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out. Feel free to email me at crizpto@yahoo.com or call/text me at 516-581-7474. I am happy to help and would love to hear from you.

With Warm Regards,

Christine Harris

WHS PTO President

DISTRICT PODCAST AND NEWSLETTER

Superintendent Barbiero has started a Podcast series this year interviewing various members of the WPS staff: “What's Up in the Weston Public Schools?” She also distributes monthly WPS Newsletters which have included an opening from her followed by a summary from each of the school Principals.  You can find both of them HERE!!!!

Please pay class dues via personal check payable to WHS with Your Student’s Class in the memo (for example, “Class of 2023”) and mail to the main office or pay on www.myschoolbucks.com

You likely received an invoice via email and should see an invoice for Class Dues on the myschoolbucks site.

Dues are $40 per year, or you may pay all four years at once.

It is essential to be up to date because the school will not give your student a parking spot if there are missing class dues.

Class dues go directly to the class each year to help cover some of the costs associated with class activities and graduation expenses.
